For the past twenty-four hours, the foghorn on the bridge has been marking time. The daytime skies may be clear in my neighborhood, but fog hangs low over the Bay. On my morning walk, I stopped by a fishing pier not far from the base of the Golden Gate. The waves lapped softly against the rocks, the Bridge, all but invisible moaned its long romantic sigh.
