From time to time, I’ll click through when Google and Facebook serve up my memories to me. Because so many of my photos from a year ago were related to my ex-fiancee, B, it’s often a bittersweet experience. Every once in a while, I’ll get pictures of the pets – usually happy, also sometimes bittersweet. Today Google gave me this one of Zelle from November 25, 2018. We had taken Z for a walk on the canal path. She’s a slobbery pup and she often picked up leaves with her drool. Yes, that’s drool.
Google also gave me these two from two years ago (on or around November 25, 2017). Paris looks like a professional model cat, Nick is just funny all sprawled out.
This morning Facebook gave me this one from 2 years ago. It still cracks me up.
The rest are just photos I started to pull from my phone…. Nick and Zelle often switched beds. Nick liked hers much more than she liked his.
It’s nice when the pets get along – though Zelle looks skeptical.
Another picture of Paris looking glamorous and maybe thoughtful.
B liked goofy socks. For Christmas, I had a pair made from a picture of Z.
Having pets can also be painful. These are the last pictures of Zelle that I have. B had gone in to the city to get her place ready to rent and to see Jocelyn – Zelle spent the day with me, eagerly waiting B’s return – we were very much alike in that respect – two dumb dogs happy to see our love come home.
This photo was taken August 1, 2018. Paris died 3 days later on the 4th. This is my last photo of her. My sweet princess – the troublemaker.
When Paris died, I started to think about how I could be a better pet dad to Nick. He’s fat and blind, and I don’t know how much more time I have with him. The deck on the house has just been finished, and I decided to give him a lot more outside time. He looked so goofy here, I had to take a picture.
