If I haven’t written much this past week (and there’s no if about it) it’s partially because I’ve had a handful of longer days at the office, and I got a dog last weekend – Kimbrough.
It’s been just over a week with the 55 lb, 3-year-old pit bull that came home with me. We’ve spent the week getting used to each other. He’s amazingly agreeable. I initially thought he might be hard of hearing, but now I suspect he was either being stubborn/scared or just needed to get used to my voice. As it turns out, most of the time, he listens quite well. He’s been home alone on the days I’ve gone in to work and hasn’t destroyed anything or gone to the bathroom anywhere. When I am home, he’s usually close by. We’re working on some of his leash commands, especially as we pass other dogs…. and he does have this annoying habit of wanting to play tug of war with his leash as I’m using my bagged hand to pick up his crap. I also need to work on desensitizing him to squirrels and bunnies – he’s a bit obsessed.
I’m looking forward to lots of adventures together. For now, here are some pics of our goofy and chill week together.
